Privacy policy

Who we are

RecycleReady (recycleready.co.uk) is run by Tom Johnson, a sole trader based in Lincolnshire. Tom is responsible for any personal information described in this policy. If you have a question about your information, email tom@tonnagecheck.co.uk.

The checker

The answers you give in the checker, such as where your business is based, how many people you employ and which collections you have, are processed entirely in your own browser. They are not sent to us or stored on our servers, and we can't see them.

When you email us

If you email us, we'll receive your name, email address and anything you include in your message, such as your business name or details of your waste arrangements. We use this only to reply to you and, if you ask us to, to help with your enquiry. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, or taking steps you've asked for before entering into a contract.

We won't add you to a mailing list or send you marketing unless you've asked us to. We won't pass your details to a waste collector or anyone else unless you've asked us to, or the law requires it.

Our email is provided by Zoho, which stores it in its European data centre.

Website hosting and technical data

The website is hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify automatically processes basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the site and keep it secure. Netlify is based in the United States and protects this data under its own data processing terms. We don't use this information to identify you.

The website doesn't load fonts, scripts or other content from third parties. It links to other websites, such as GOV.UK, which have their own privacy policies.

Cookies and visitor statistics

We don't use cookies or advertising trackers. Our host, Netlify, produces anonymous visitor statistics from its server logs, such as how many people visit, which pages they view and which website they came from. This doesn't use cookies, and we can't use it to identify you.

How long we keep information

We keep emails for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry, and then for up to two years in case you get in touch again. If you become a customer, we keep records needed for tax and accounting for as long as the law requires, usually six years.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop using it. To make a request, email tom@tonnagecheck.co.uk. We'll respond within one month.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy if the way we use information changes, and show the date of the latest version at the top.
